SPARKLE TAYLOR NAMED FINALS MVP OF GWBA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Flint, MI- Northwestern high school graduate Sparkle Taylor was selected Finals MVP of the Global Women’s Basketball Association (GWBA) championship game for her outstanding play by league founder Sonya Nichols. 


On Sunday August 7, Taylor helped Flint win its sixth national title by defeating the Wisconsin Glo 72-70 in the GWBA Championship game at Mott Community College.


“Sparkle made history tonight, she led the league in scoring with 27.1 points per game, displayed greatness consistently all season and it feels good to see her rewarded,” said Drey Wynn, Acting Head Coach and General Manager.


Taylor is the sixth Monarch to be tabbed Finals MVP of a championship series, other notable Monarchs include:

“Sparkle wants the ball when the game is on the line, she wants the last shot and not many players have that characteristic, only the great ones do,” said Wynn.

Flint finished with a 4-6 record in the Global Women’s Basketball Association and is 8-6 overall.
