Monarchs pick up first win, defeats Queens 82-77

Flint, MI- The Flint Monarchs picked up their first season win against the Detroit Queens 82-77. Sparkle Taylor led all scorers with 28 points and eight rebounds, Ciani Cryor posted 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists.


“This was a much-needed win, I credit this team for coming together and finishing the game,” said Drey Wynn, Acting Head Coach and General Manager. "However, Detroit is a very good team and I expect them to make some noise during playoffs."


The Detroit Queens was led by Tinara Moore with 22 points and five rebounds, Micaela Kelly also scored 21 points.

This weekend Flint (1-2) will travel to Missouri to take on the Surge (1-3) at 6:05 p.m. (Central Standard Time) on Saturday June 25, 2022, at Washington University Athletics in St. Louis, MO.

Game notes: Flint scored 46 points in the paint, had 24 fast break points, there were 5 lead changes, 3 times the game was tied and biggest deficit Monarchs faced was 3 points.
