Arlesia Morse scored a game-high 27 points and the Flint Monarchs used a big third quarter to beat the Music City Icons 82-77 in their Global Women’s Basketball Association season opener in Nashville, Tenn.
Morse, a Flint Hamady product who played at Marquette, also had 11 rebounds as the Monarchs outscored the Icons by 29 points in the third quarter to erase a 10-point halftime deficit.
Nya Jordan added a career-high 24 points for Flint, which got 17 points and 11 rebounds from Rachel Kehoe.
Lauren Elliott led Music City with 19 points.
The Monarchs (1-0) return to action Saturday against the host St. Louis Surge (0-1).
