MONARCHS DEFEAT ILLINOIS WARRIORS 89-61 IN SEASON OPENER
O’Fallon, IL – The Flint Monarchs are off to good start for the 2018 season by picking up a road victory against the Illinois Warriors 89-61 on Saturday June 2.
The Monarchs were led by Crystal Bradford the former CMU star who scored 29 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists (5-for-6 from 3 point line), Morgan Pullins chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds and rookie Taylor Gleason recorded 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists. The Warriors were led by Ciara Morgan who scored 15 points and former Arkansas State University star Veronica Smith with 13 points.
“It’s always positive to start a season out with win especially on the road,” said Flint Monarchs president and general manager Drey Wynn. “Crystal Bradford and the other starters did what was expected of them but the play of rookie Taylor Gleason was truly the bright spot of this game.”
The Monarchs (1-0) will host the Milwaukee Aces (1-0) on Saturday June 9, 2018 at 4pm, which will be a rematch of the 2017 GWBA championship game. All home games will be played at Dort Federal CU Event Center, 3501 Lapeer Rd, Flint, MI 48503.
General admission price for single game tickets is $10. Season passes are $40 which gives admission for all regular season and 1st round of playoff home games.
