Monarchs end season with playoff loss to Wisconsin Glo 97-84

FLINT – The Flint Monarchs playoff hopes ended with a season ending loss to the Wisconsin Glo 97-84.

Wisconsin kept Flint at bay in the third quarter and then extended its lead to as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter before the Monarchs went on a 12-0 run to pull within 91-82 with less than two minutes to play.

The Monarchs only had six players dress for the opening round of playoffs at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, MO.

“These players were the last six standing,” said Drey Wynn, Flint Monarchs. “Regardless of all the challenges we’ve faced this season due to COVID-19, these six went down fighting like true Monarchs.”

Stasha Carey led the Monarchs with 21 points and 9 rebounds in route to player of the game honors.  Caitlin Jenkins had 16 points and 11 rebounds, Sparkle Taylor added 17 points and seven rebounds, Jasmine Thomas scored 15 points and Jensen Caretti netted 10 points.

Steph Kostowicz led Wisconsin with 18 points.

“The silver lining is we have a strong core group of players to build upon and my offseason plans are already producing results; I believe the future is very bright for the Monarchs.”
