Taylor’s career game leads Monarchs past Detroit Dodgers 88-76
FLINT – After opening the season with two losses, the Flint Monarchs recorded their first victory of the 2021 season by beating the visiting Detroit Dodgers 88-76.
Sparkle Taylor led the Monarchs with a career-high 33 points and 10 rebounds. Ciani Cryor added 14 points and six assists, Jasmine Thomas scored 10 points and Caitlin Jenkins had eight points to go with 11 rebounds.
“This team is still trying to find its identity,” said Drey Wynn, Flint Monarchs. “However, having a player of Sparkle’s caliber helps make this process easier.”
Asia Boyd led Detroit with 25 points and nine rebounds.
The Monarchs are temporarily playing their Global Women’s Basketball Association home games at Macomb Community College, according to a news release. They return to action July 31 vs. Detroit at Macomb CC.
